Relief Services

Why Relief Matters

Operating my own mobile integrative veterinary practice allows me the flexibility to also provide relief veterinary services throughout the Tulsa area. This is not a side project—it is a deliberate and valued part of how I practice medicine.

As a relief veterinarian, I step into hospitals when support is needed most—during vacations, staffing transitions, or periods of increased demand. I genuinely enjoy working with new teams, learning how each clinic functions, and adapting quickly to different workflows, caseloads, and hospital cultures. I work well with a wide variety of teams because I value clear communication, mutual respect, and shared responsibility for patient care.

Every hospital has something to teach me. My goal is always to listen first, contribute thoughtfully, and leave something behind that strengthens the team—whether that’s clinical insight, effective client communication, integrative options for chronic cases, or simply reliable, steady coverage that allows others to step away with confidence.

I approach relief work with professionalism and humility, understanding that I am stepping into your hospital, your systems, and your client relationships. My role is to support continuity of care, uphold your standards of medicine, and serve patients and clients with consistency and excellence while I’m there.

More About Dr. Erin Ayres

Dr. Erin Ayres was born and raised in Oklahoma, and returning to Tulsa felt like a natural homecoming. From an early age, her love for animals and the natural world was unmistakable—even if her childhood dream of “being a dog when she grew up” eventually matured into a career in veterinary medicine.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Oklahoma Baptist University before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Early in her career, Dr. Ayres explored a wide range of veterinary paths, including marine mammal medicine through work with zoological and marine institutions. While that experience continues to inform her understanding of animal behavior and handling, she ultimately felt called to serve companion animals and the families who care for them.

Dr. Ayres has extensive experience in small animal general practice, urgent care, and integrative medicine. She has a particular interest in geriatric medicine and pain management, where thoughtful, individualized care can significantly improve quality of life. Her approach blends Western diagnostics with Eastern modalities, always grounded in careful assessment, sound clinical judgment, and clear communication with pet owners.

She is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, with training in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine food therapy, and is AVCA-certified in animal chiropractic. These modalities allow her to approach pain, mobility, and chronic disease through a whole-body lens while remaining practical, evidence-informed, and patient-centered.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ayres is known for working well within established teams. She enjoys collaborating with veterinarians and support staff, contributing to a positive hospital culture, and supporting continuity of care. Her background includes launching integrative services within conventional practices, developing referral systems, and creating client education materials that complement primary care.

.

At the core of her work is a deep respect for animals as entrusted lives and for the people who care for them. Whether serving clinics through relief work or seeing patients through her mobile integrative practice, Dr. Ayres’ goal is consistent: steady, compassionate medicine delivered with integrity, clarity, and professionalism.
